Yuba Pass:
- 6,709 feet (2,054 meters) above sea level
- California State Route 49
- Between Nevada City and Sattley, California
- Sierra County, California
- Northern Sierra
- Mostly open in winter
What to expect:
- Attractive scenery
- Light traffic
- Best riding
Yuba Pass on CA 49 offers some of the best riding in the Northern Sierra. The mountains here are a bit lower, and the scenery less dramatic, than in the Central or Southern Sierra. Yuba Pass compensates for that by offering fantastic technical riding without too much distracting scenery.
Yuba Pass is also the name of a former Gold Rush-era settlement in Nevada County, California, just off of Interstate 80, about a mile east of Yuba Gap. Today, there is virtually nothing left of that town. That Yuba Pass is a different place from the Yuba Pass on Highway 49, on the divide between the North Yuba River and the Middle Fork of the Feather River. Yes, Sierra Nevada place names can be confusing.
